I’ve never been a huge Tom Cruise fan. I love Far and Away and Edge of Tomorrow/Live. Die. Repeat but that’s honestly about it from his filmography. So when I wanted to see Jack Reacher it wasn’t because Tom Cruise was playing him, a casting decision that I’ve heard is a little controversial based on the character in the books. I’ve never read the books; I like the story fine as a movie but I don’t always like this kind of story in book format. . . I actually really like Cruise as Jack Reacher. I enjoy the movie a lot, partially because of Reacher’s attitude and sassiness. The movie is a good introduction to Reacher and how he works. It works as a standalone or as a starting point. It’s nice because you can watch the movies (and I assume read the books) in any order without being lost. I like series like that. . . I like the little bit of mystery and conspiracy, and figuring out how everything went down. I’m not always a fan of conspiracy or political/courtroom movies but I enjoy this movie. It’s got a good supporting cast, enough suspicion throughout to keep you guessing as to who the bad guy is, and I love the scene at the end of the car chase when Reacher casually walks out of the slowly moving car. ??? . . #moviereview #movieblogger #filmbuff #filmreview #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #jackreacher #jackreachermovie

I just watched an episode of the TV show „Scorpion” – and I normally accept the hilarious ‘science’ portrayed there – but there was one thing I couldn’t ignore: two main characters were shipwrecked but not injured in any way, and found refuge on a buoy. After a moment a shark appeared and started repeatedly ramming the buoy to shake the two persons off it. Even whacking it on the nose only caused it to get ‘angry’ and it banded together with other sharks to topple the buoy. I despise the portrayal of sharks behaving like this in the media because it’s not only completely wrong it perpetuates the image of sharks as brutal, homicidal killer machines that attack humans whenever they find them. Many species of sharks are (critically) endangered, slaughtered or have their fins cut off and are tossed into the sea to die. Nick Santora was the key person in the storydevelopment of Scorpion, Scooter Braun was one of the producers, and now they will be at the same company. We do not know whether this fact will have an effect on Scorpion or not, but we know that the unfinished story almost shout out for the continuation. Lee Child. Night School. Reacher finishes an assignment and gets taken out of the everyday army and taken to a school, only it isn’t, the clues add up so that it must be something different where no one would know where reacher would be, as always he goes in and solves the day with help of others, and of course meets a new lady friend on the way.
