| POLLUTED / glacier melt | To me this is the most scary of all the issues I chose to touch, melting ice and glaciers. The rising sea level is a vast problem and we don’t know if it’s going to accelerate. What we do know is that the extent of the problem will be immense. Affect all living beings on earth. What have you done for the world? – ”For as long as I can remember we’ve been talking about environmental issues and global warming. Throughout my childhood we’ve discussed about this in school, news or within the parlament. I’m nearly 25 years old. I feel like nothing has been done to halt the global warming. In 2014 I decided to go vegan, for the environment – alone.” Through the series POLLUTED I want to highlight some of the issues we face in the world every day. I want to reach deep within the viewer. | POLLUTED / Oil Extraction | Oil spills have a devastating effect on the environment, ruining habitats and killing marine life. The oil spill kills birds and other organisms by sticking to them. It also destroys their food sources and poisoning them. When an oil rig explode or leak it’s a disaster. What have you done for the world? – ”For as long as I can remember we’ve been talking about environmental issues and global warming. | POLLUTED / algal bloom | #FRIDAYFORFUTURE Harmful algal bloom are organisms that severely lower oxygen levels in natural waters, killing marine life. When the bloom dies microbes, which decompose the dead algae, use up even more of the waters oxygen, which can create fish die-offs. These zones are referred to as dead zones, where neither fish nor plants are able to survive. Exposure to algae toxin has also been linked to severe diseases, alzheimer’s disease is one of them. Globally, the major source for urban outdoor Ultrafine Particles concentrations is motor traffic.
