Off to Bucky P’s today! With @sage_townsend and @1.francescasmith to celebrate the Better Lives programme at UAL @ual_alumni Some of the real hero’s of the Better Lives Programme are Claire Swift who works with female prisoners to aid in rehabilitation through teaching fashion and textile skills to prepare them for the outside world and Dr Phil Sams Better Lives programme mission and scholarship advisor. Many thanks to Ambassador and head of school @fcorner for the invitation who will be giving a speech at tonight’s event. For myself as a lecture one of my key roles is to raise awareness and encourage research in areas of fashion ethics, values and sustainability. As an artist I have always been seeking to use the deeper visual language of fashion to talk about human related subjects. To peel back the surface and explore the deeper value of fashion to society. I was also very proud to be involved a couple of years ago in the Art against Knifes leather bag workshops – a programme designed to support young adults in creating their own positive futures, supported by the Sir John Cass Foundation. Tonight I will be wearing full recycled gliz from multiply eras and hand made hat from the left over fabric. 🙂 #betterlives #ual #lcf ##sustainablefashion #fashionethics
