Korábban már írtunk Andrew McCarthyról, aki tavaly év elején azzal került a hírekbe, hogy ezer apró képből, Photoshopban rakta össze legújabb Hold-fotóját (is). Képeinek pikantériája továbbra is, hogy nem NASA-kamerával dolgozik, hanem teljesen hétköznapi fotós felszereléssel, és úgy rakja össze a képeket, hogy látványosak és megfelelő felbontásúak legyenek:

“A Wolf in the Clouds” I had no intentions of shooting the moon last night as the forecast called for thick clouds all evening. However, the cloud layer was briefly thin enough to capture the bright moon through them. Clouds can act like a natural ND filter for the moon, allowing unique scenes with illuminated clouds and the moon in the same frame. This was captured using a blend of images from a 300mm telephoto lens and a 1400mm telescope. . I hope you guys aren’t sick of my moon spam, I’ve been on a bit of a bender. . The first full moon of 2020, known as the “Wolf Moon” due to its association with the breeding season of wolves, who would howl during the moonlight nights in January. This is a blend of 12,200 16 megapixel images to make one 81 megapixel shot. Shoutout to everyone who joined me live while I captured this last night, thanks for the company! This “Celestial Rose” is one of the most beautiful parts of our night sky in this guy’s opinion. This nebula is in the Monoceros constellation, and is building new stars within its heart. Commonly referred to as the Rosette Nebula, it is a 65 light-year wide mass of Hydrogen II, located 5200 light years away. Some people can see a skull hidden in this image, let me know if you find it 💀. . A print will be available in limited quantities for 24 hours, check my bio if interested. Monday night’s moon, captured using similar techniques as my last lunar shot, which you all seemed to love. The natural colors of the moon were brought out here with minor saturation adjustments, but those colors are completely real and what you could see if your eyes were more sensitive. I find the color really helps tell the story of how some of these features formed billions of years ago. . . The uncompressed PNG is sold through my downloads store. Would look cool printed large on a big wall 😉

My first lunar image of 2020 is also one of my most detailed. This is a blend of around 100k photos, which allowed me to sharpen the image and overcome some of the fuzzing caused by our turbulent atmosphere. The colors you see are real, caused by variations in the composition of the regolith. This first quarter moon also is one of the best for showing crater detail, as the long shadows long the terminator really make the details pop. .
