One thing Pippa discussed was about Meghan helping open the conversation when it comes to ethical jewellery: “Ethical jewellery has become a conversation and I think the Duchess wearing it over the last year, without having to say anything, has brought that subject to a public who weren’t aware. It has opened that conversation up. It’s incredible. After years of trying, she’s just blown the doors open. The impact on the workshop has been fantastic.” . . Back in December, @pippasmalljewellery noted in an Instagram post that the pieces worn by Meghan at the British Fashion Awards were made by the artisans she employs from the Turquoise Mountain Foundation, an Afghanistan-based charity that was founded by Prince Charles in 2006. The organisation supports and trains local artisans and businesses while working to preserve their unique culture, heritage and traditions 🇦🇫. Such a sweet connection to the Prince of Wales! 👑 . . Pippa also revealed that for more than a decade she has been travelling to Kabul to meet the artisans who create some of her jewellery. She revealed that “you weren’t allowed to wear or make jewellery under the Taliban so it was a pretty dead industry. Now they have a job, they’re well paid, they’re safe.” She added that “ensuring a secure income for the artisans is a big responsibility, which makes Meghan’s support all the more valuable.
