A Valerian és az ezer bolygó városa az év legjobban várt sci-fije Alien ide, Szárnyas fejvadász oda, Star Wars franchise meg bárhova.
Luc Besson a pályáját nemcsak, hogy egy gyönyörű, szöveg nélküli sci-fivel (Élethalálharc) kezdte, de eddigi legnagyobb sikere is egy sci-fi volt: Az ötödik elem. Amióta kiderült, hogy az azonos című, klasszikus francia képregény-sorozat alapján forgatja új filmjét, aminek itthoni bemutatója július 20., a kérdés az, sikerül-e a francia rendező-producernek újra nagyot villantani a műfajban. A trailer és az eddig megjelent fotók alapján egy remek kis űrkalandra van kilátás, és a most közreadott részletek a megérzésünket csak erősítik.
A film két főszereplője Cara Delevigne és Dane DeHaan, mellettük pedig olyan színésztényezők bukkannak majd fel a monumentális moziban, mint Ethan Hawke, Mathieu Kassovitz, Rutger Hauer vagy Clive Owen, Elizabeth Debicki és John Goodman pedig a hangjukat kölcsönözik egy-egy CGI-karakternek. Ja, és még Rihanna is feltűnik egy rövidebb szerepben.
