Without much light pollution in Spiti Valley, stargazing here is just so awesome, with billions of stars over one of the pagodas in Tabo Monastery. “Śūnyatā” In my recent trip, I and my friends spent a total 12 days in India and came to this magical place called Key Monastery in Spiti Valley. Unlike the India that normally you may think of, Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain located in the Himalaya mountains and Key Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhism monastery. The monastery is at 4,166 metres above sea level, surrounded by the snow cap mountains and at night, the temperature can drop below -5 degree. Taking photos at such high altitude and cold temperature is not an easy stuff, but after overcoming all the challenging that we faced, we got what we want and here is one of the photos that I got from the trip. This photo was taken using D750 with a Nikkor 50mm f1.8g. At such narrower focal length, I able to compress the distance between the foreground and the background, making the Milky Way appeared to be much larger rising above the Monastery. Yes, the Milky Way is 100% real without superimposing. ? Here are some technical details: 50mm, ISO 8000, 8.0 seconds shutter speed at f2.2 20 images stacking for the foreground 50 images stacking for the sky P.s. “To Infinity” Sometimes, landscape photography is not just about photography, it also includes travel, enjoys local good foods (I like eating 😀 ) and meeting group of photographer friends! This photo was taken during my trip to Mersing. To reach the shooting spot, it required us to walk through a small forest and a bit of hiking, not really a tough path but it can be very difficult to find your way in if you don’t have someone experienced to guide you and we are honored to have our friend Tzer Ruey Chin with us, is great to finally meet up with him again since our last meet was a few years ago. The settings for the photo are ISO 12,800, 14mm, f2.8 and 15 seconds. With myself inside the cave using a flash light to light out the inner wall of the cave and additional credit for Edwin light painting on the overall arch, also thanks to Jacob for the pose guidance too. Yes, this is a single shot without any blending required. ^^ Other than that, is quite an enjoyable outing together with everyone.
