I got a DM a few days ago from this kid and he said to me, ”Kendawg, I’m the ugliest kid I know” and it was like, what!? And then he goes, “yea I look like a gay girl with long hair” to me it was like, omg u r just a kid, like, why r u sayin this? Who said this 2 u? So I thought to myself of other people who are probably made fun of every single day just because they’re living their truth and wave their flag. And these are artists like, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and Ann Lennox, and Prince, George Michael and Elton John. My mind glazed over. So I asked him, I really want to know why do you feel this way? And he said, “well people say I look like a girl or a gay dude with long hair” and I asked him, so what do you think I look like? And says, “well u r an inspiring, good looking guy with a nice smile” and I go, well, thanks 😊. But when people make fun of me they say I look like a burnt this, I look like the predator, I look like a melted candy bar. I asked him do you see me complaining about what others say about me? He says, no. Do u see me changing my body? He says, no. Do you see me putting people on blast every time negativity happens? He goes, no. Do you see me posting pictures on my scars and still smiling and becoming the best version I can be on IG? He goes, yes. So kid, we don’t change. We take the gravel in the shell and we make a pearl. Kenny Matthews gyerekkorában élt túl egy súlyos tűzvészt, amelyben teste több mint 80 százaléka megégett. Kapott már hideget-meleget megváltozott külseje miatt: van, aki szörnyetegnek hívja, más csak megijed tőle, de ma már szerencsére sokakat is inspirál gondolataival.
Számára a legfontosabb, hogy az emberek megértsék, az égési sérülésekkel élők is emberek, és nem szabad megijedni tőlük.
